Pick-up Volleyball Thursday Evenings !!

Join us each Thursday evening at around 6:30 pm for casual volleyball at the sand court by the pool (Briars and Mt. Airey). Beginners are welcome! Each evening will start with informal instruction, tips, and warm-up drills. Children should be 11 or older. Experienced players are definitely needed to help teach and keep the games flowing. We want these games to be a way of connecting with new friends and getting our kids interested in the game. Bring along your favorite snacks and drinks. For more information, contact Dennis at dtwombly@mail.nih.gov or (301) 570-0394.

Spring Clean-up and Egg Roll

The OMCA Spring Cleanup held on March 24th was a big success even though the weather was threatening. Around 30 volunteers collected trash in the parks and streams and along roads in Olney Mill. We ended up with 50 bags of trash and some assorted auto parts. Thank you to all who helped.

The Easter Egg Roll had a huge turnout and was a fantastic family event. It was great to see so many children participate this year. A photo from the event was even published in the April 11 issue of the Gazette! We appreciate all the volunteers and Ginger Twombly’s coordination of the event. Color photos from the Cleanup and Egg Roll will be posted in the May issue of the Mill Stream.

OMCA Resale Packages and Disclosures

Maryland law requires a seller to provide the buyer with documentation about the homeowner association along with a resale disclosure form indicating annual assessments, any special assessments, past due balances, or architectural control violations. This disclosure form must be obtained from OMCA. If this documentation is not provided within the proper time frame, a buyer has the right to void an agreed-upon contract. Residents should contact Colleen Dolinish to request resale packages.

Olney Mill Community Clean-Up

Come Get Dirty & Clean Our Neighborhood!
On Saturday, March 19, 2011, the Olney Mill Community Association will be holding its 8th Annual Community Clean Up. The Clean Up will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. at three staging areas:

The Olney Mill House (corner of Route 108 and Olney Mill Road)
The Olney Mill Family Neighborhood Park (entrance on Willow Grove Rd)
The Olney Mill Park (entrance on Charline Manor Rd)

Wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt or jacket to avoid scratches from branches. Wear waterproof shoes even if it is clear, because some areas may be swampy. Don’t wear anything nice – you’re probably going to get dirty…

We will proceed if there is just a drizzle or light rain. If the weather is questionable, please check the website to see if the event has been postponed. The raindate is Sunday, March 20, 2011.

After the clean up, volunteers are invited to join us for a pizza lunch (location to be determined) around noon. If you would like to participate, please email Dennis Twombly (dtwombly@mail.nih.gov) so that we can distribute volunteers and plan for the pizza lunch. You can also register by sending email to the Parks & Common Areas contact at www.olneymill.net.
